What Do You Do When You’re Not Feeling It

Dark silhouette of an entrepreneur who is not feeling it

What do you do when you’re just not feeling it?

Not feeling the business love…

Not feeling like your mojo’s working…

Not feeling like you know what you’re doing…

Not feeling like you know how to keep going…

Not feeling like you’ve got any originality left in you…

What do you do?

You keep going anyway.

You keep going because you’re a trained professional and your business and clients need you. You keep going because your family is counting on you and you don’t want to let them down. You keep going because you’re on autopilot and you don’t know how to *not* keep going.

There’s a nuance to keeping going, though, that may be an advanced maneuver for you, and it’s this: stop and give yourself a rest.

But I have so much to do, you say! People are counting on me! I can rest when I’m dead!

Persistence is a good thing. I’m going to assume on your behalf that you’ll resume taking care of all the things after a break. If you’re the Golden Goose, you want to continue to lay those fabulous eggs, right? In order to do this you have to focus on keeping yourself well.

When you consider taking a rest it challenges the voice in your head, the one that says you simply must keep going or else something bad will happen. Here’s the truth about what will happen: you’ll get a good rest, have a break, take some time off, rejuvenate your brain, restore your body, and remember who you are and why you do what you do. You’ll likely feel gratitude for what’s in your life. You may also see areas that need tweaking or that you’d like to do differently, which you can act on later. These are the side effects of hitting the pause button and welcome ones at that.

What to do when you’re not feeling it? Take a break. Then keep going, renewed and restored.
