How is it almost 2022 when I still have so much to do?!

Imagine back to the beginning of the year. If you’re like a lot of me, you probably had a lot of great plans.

You may planned to change things up – maybe you were thinking about introducing something different, like a new direction in your business, or switching the focus of what you offer and to whom. Or maybe you were feeling restless and knew you wanted a change, yet weren’t sure what to do about it.

Now suddenly, it’s almost November. How could you possibly entertain the thought of changing things up before the end of the year, or justify your restlessness with everything that’s going on?

And yet, how can you not?

With just two months left to go in 2021… this could be the perfect time to shake things up. It’s sort of like, “Ah, what the heck. The world’s gone all topsy turvy anyway, so maybe now’s the time to make some of those changes I’ve been thinking about.”

This is where it’s helpful to follow your internal compass.

Give yourself permission to set the old fear and excuses down, and get in touch with what’s true and real for you now. As in today. Listen to the voices that have been whispering in your ear, give air time to the ideas floating around the fringes of your mind. If you have a desire for something in your work to be different (or personal life, too, BTW), you also have the capacity to affect that change, and start taking steps toward it, no matter how tiny.

If 2021 is teaching us anything, it’s that life is meant to be lived. Fully. All the more reason to get out of the trap of old conversations about fear, limitations, and I cant’s that keep you from exploring options that could bring a smile to your face, and to the faces of those around you.

What can you create in your work still this year that will bring the most satisfaction to yourself?

And what can your create that will bring the most value to your clients? What tiny step can you take right now to allow yourself to think outside the “normal” box and explore the fringe ideas you’ve had? What if you allow yourself to go for it anyway, despite the fact that it makes no logical sense?

Remember what Howard Thurman said: Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

Now’s the time.
