Positive Challenges

positive challenges

Why do we often assume challenges are negative?

Thinking back, I realize many of the challenges I’ve faced have been positive challenges, although it may not have felt that way at the time.

  • learning something new
  • looking for ways to deal with something differently than I did in the past
  • dreaming about creating something fresh, then figuring out how to handle it when it happened
  • making assumptions about how things are, then realizing everything had been turned upside down – for the better
  • busting my assumptions, learning a new skill, expanding my horizons, turning my snow globe upside down…

Being challenged is often a sign of opportunity and expansion, if you allow it to show up that way. The more perspective you have, the better equipped you are to face what’s before you with confidence.

Make a list of the challenges you’re facing, and see them as objectively as possible.

Which occur to you as positive challenges, which as negative?

Brainstorm what fresh perspective or reframe you can bring to those that appear as negative.

Create a plan for bringing your new perspective/reframe into reality, making it actionable.

Enjoy addressing your challenges with more fun and ease!
